Working for us

We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care and support.

Why work for us?

Bury Hospice, is an extraordinary place to work. We are fortunate to have so many fantastic dedicated staff working here, which covers all areas of our business as well as our incredible clinical staff.

What we need

We are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of care and support to our patients and their families. This means that we aim to attract enthusiastic and ambitious people, who can adopt the hospice ethos and values to continue to grow our care and support.

Work Experience & Placements

Bury Hospice is able to offer placements for young people wishing to gain experience within a work-based setting, whilst also providing an opportunity to learn more about the work of the Hospice and the services that we provide within our local community.

Should you wish to complete a placement at Bury Hospice we will work closely with you to design a bespoke placement experience in order to ensure that you get the most out of your time with us. This will include establishing a programme that allows you to spend time across our different sites and departments so that you gain a comprehensive understanding of all that is required and everyone that is involved in keeping our organisation running.

Our placements are available for those aged 16 or over who are required to complete a work-based placement through their educational institution i.e. college, sixth-form, university.

Please note our ability to accept you onto our programme will be dependent upon current capacity and the placement requirements of your educational institution.

Duke of Edinburgh

Within our retail department we are able to facilitate the completion of Duke of Edinburgh placements for those aged 16 or over. We have a number of shops in and around Bury and we will work with you to decide upon a regular volunteering slot either weekly or fortnightly. Throughout your time with us you will be supported by our friendly team of staff and volunteers, and this will be a great opportunity to develop your communication and customer service skills, whilst also providing an important contribution to our organisation.

Volunteer vacancies

Bury Hospice couldn’t function without the support and dedication of our volunteers, but we need more.

We are particularly looking for people to volunteer in our shops. For those who volunteer for us, it is impossible to put a value on what they do – and what they get back from it. Anyone who has had a loved one cared for at the Hospice knows what a difference it makes.

The Hospice has several shops throughout the borough, including in Bury town centre, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and Prestwich, which all need support. A third of the income needed to run the Hospice comes from our charity shops.
