White Curve

Bury Hospice is launching our first Virtual Balloon race this Easter, so why not take part with all of the family.

For just £3 you can grab a huge dollop of virtual fun by purchasing a balloon and giving it a name, colour, shape and pattern.

This is not all, you can also select different features such as helium content –  which will determine your balloon’s flight performance.

Our virtual race will take off from Jerusalem on Easter Sunday (4th April) and will be tracked for 7 days before the winner is announced. We have a mystery hamper of goodies for the winning balloon that travels the further distance.

Everything is real about the competition except the balloon. The software the race organisers use monitor live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon. Each entry can be tracked on Google Maps and Satellites after the start of the race.

This race is kind to the environment and has no negative environmental impact on birds, animals, climate change, plastic waste or litter, the only thing you need to consider is will your balloon make it or will it pop!

In this virtual balloon race Bury Hospice supporters will be challenging other charities, with the overall winners receiving an extra prize from the event organisers Eco Racing.

So why not pitch against your family and see if you can win some goodies whilst supporting our patients at Bury Hospice? Join now through clicking on the following link to the Ecoracing website and creating an account to become a Virtual Balloon owner: Virtual Balloon Race

We look forward to seeing your creations!

Competition: Design a Cake to celebrate Bury Hospice’s 30th birthday

Rallying our young supporters! Help Bury Hospice celebrate its 30th anniversary – design our birthday cake!

As every child knows, no birthday celebration is complete without a cake and we are handing the job of designing a birthday cake to the children of Bury.

Today we are launching a competition for Bury schoolchildren to Design a Cake. We would like the design to include the 30th birthday theme. There is one age group - four to 11 – with first, second and third prizes.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is download the template HERE and send your completed entry to: Design a Cake Competition, Bury Hospice, Rochdale Old Road, Bury, BL9 7RG.

The closing date for entries is Friday, April 16 and will be judged by Coronation Street and Shameless star, Sally Carman!

The winner will have their design made into a cake by Slattery Patissier & Chocolatier in Whitefield and the winner and runners-up will be presented with certificates and trophies at Bury Hospice’s birthday event on Thursday, June 24.
