Thank you for looking after mum. I am so grateful for the kind care the whole team gave to mum and for helping us through this sad time. She received excellent care and as a family we received so much support.
From a grateful daughter
Only one in four of our patients is funded by the NHS because the government only provides 25% of our funding. We have to find the rest through fundraising, gifts in Wills, our shops, lottery and donations. The generous support of companies like yours is why local people like you, your friends, neighbours and loved ones, can receive expert, compassionate care from our highly-trained and dedicated team. It’s all down to you, your business and all those like you, who do whatever they can to help.
We want you to get the best out of your fundraising experience, so here are a few of our top tips
Don’t forget to Gift Aid it!
Gift Aid can raise the value of your sponsorship money and donations at no extra cost to those who sponsor you, or donate to your cause. If you’re using a paper sponsorship form to raise funds, make sure your sponsors tick the Gift Aid box and fill out their details themselves because we can’t claim Gift Aid if you have filled out the form on their behalf, or if they haven’t included their address. Equally, if the tax man can’t read it, we can’t claim it, so please ask for the form to be filled out in capital letters.
Set up an online giving page
Just Giving helps you to raise money online. It’s a very simple matter to email your link to colleagues, friends and family members, as well as to place it on your social media pages or at the bottom of your emails. People can then make a donation with a credit or debit card, or PayPal. The big benefit of this is that you won’t have to chase them for money after the event and Gift Aid is automatically calculated and dealt with on our behalf.
Tell all your friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, because your enthusiasm could be someone else’s inspiration! Posters at work or in your local shop, pub or hairdressers help to spread your message and you can share your stories and events on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as through email to friends and family members.
Matched giving can significantly increase your sponsorship money; you could ask your company to match whatever your work colleagues raise. For more information, please contact us.
Take a collection box
We are on a mission to get as many boxes as we can into the community, because each one raises around £30, which is more than enough to pay for an hour of one-to-one care on the in-patient unit, or an hour of bereavement care. Collection boxes also raise awareness of the hospice, so if you can take a box for your business or organisation, please get in touch.
